Hi, I’m Dr. Christina Cherian

9 years ago, I was on the verge of quitting med school. I was burnt out and questioning if the path I had chosen was the right one for me.

That's when I discovered a whole food plant based diet.

Suddenly, there was a reason to stay. I learned that I could actually take patients off their meds rather than moving them along on the slow but certain conveyor belt to worsening disease, disability, and early death. I read and learned everything I could and eventually became board certified in Lifestyle Medicine.

For the past 7 years, I have been turning this insight into action, in myself and my patients. And the results have been nothing short of astounding.

I am passionate about and educated in disease prevention and reversal through the tenets of lifestyle medicine, especially evidence-based nutrition. I completed my undergraduate career at University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, where I majored in Biomedical Sciences and minored in Public Health. I remained at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine for my medical degree through the Honors Medical Program.

While in medical school, I was part of the International Medicine Scholarly Concentration, through which I completed a summer of field research in Ecuador. I also had the opportunity to travel to Dominican Republic twice as part of annual medical mission trips and served as president of the Student Physicians for Social Responsibility.

I went on to complete my residency in Family Medicine at the St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Center in Jacksonville, Florida. During residency, I completed a certification in Plant-Based Nutrition via the eCornell Center for Nutrition Studies. I also presented a short lecture series on evidence-based nutrition to my fellow residents and faculty. Upon graduation, I was awarded the Jane Lanier Service Award. I became board certified in Lifestyle Medicine by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine in 2022.

My experience has been enriched by 200-hour certification in yoga teacher training and years of personal and formal practice in mindfulness and meditation. My personal interests include reading, yoga, meditation and mindfulness, hiking, traveling, and watercoloring.

I value building relationships based on kindness, trust, and compassion. I offer a mindful and nonjudgemental approach to lifestyle change to help you reach your health goals.

Values I live by:

Human Connection

I believe that there’s a common thread that runs through all of us and that there is great power in our shared humanity - power to change, grow, and inspire one another to be better and do better.

Compassion

I do my best to live by the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. My greatest intention is to help relieve the suffering of others, wherever I can.

Integrity

Adherence to my values and intuition have led me to a more authentic life. I regularly take inventory of my actions to course-correct as needed and ensure that they are in line with my values.

“I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.”
